Welcome to STAR WATCH! The Kyrene STAR Summer Program is currently gearing up for summer 2010 at Pueblo Middle School. This blog will be updated frequently to provide you information about the program, the curriculum, and the STAR staff. Please check back often to see what we are up to.
STAR is Success Through Academic Reform
An innovative four-week summer program designed to build on social, emotional and academic skills for students who have struggled with success in school. STAR promotes student success through language arts, mathematics, team building exercises, character building activities, and group discussions. Technology is incorporated into all areas of STAR and provides additional learning for students. You will even see STAR students "guest blog" right here. So be sure to check back.
STAR teachers will monitor student progress and assess objectives to verify mastery of learning concepts. Our teachers are energetic, passionate about learning, and FUN! Our teachers professional bio's will be posted right here, so you'll be able to meet the staff before STAR begins. STAR teachers will take turns writing on our blog about classroom activities and posting pictures of students in class, so you'll be able to see what students are learning and creating this summer.
Parents will receive daily communication from teachers about their students progress during STAR. A graduation ceremony and an off-campus excursion will culminate this summer’s program. In addition, students completing the STAR program will receive follow up from the program during their 2010-2011 school year.
STAR is designed for entering 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. STAR Junior is for students entering 5th grade. STAR is in session Mondays-Thursdays, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, June 7th - July 1st.

Transportation is available at many pick up and drop off points throughout the Kyrene School District for a fee.
